Talented and increasingly popular dhol player Palash Sheikh has already won the hearts of audiences both in Bangladesh and abroad. With more than a decade of experience, he has been performing alongside renowned artists across various districts of the country.
In addition to stage performances, Palash regularly appears in live television programs and works with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Born in Mirpur, Dhaka, Palash Sheikh began his musical journey under the guidance of Ustad Md. Shahin Hossain. He later received further training from noted dhol player Nayan Mia, strengthening his foundation in traditional percussion.
He became involved in stage performances at just 14 years old and has since worked as a musician across Bangladesh and in India.
Over the years, he has performed on stage with a number of well-known vocalists, including Chandana Majumdar and others such as Kiran Chandra Roy, Ashraf Babu, Khairul Wasi, Shamsul Haque Chishti, Shahin Hossain, Labanya Akter, and Shirin Sultana.
Palash is also a regular musician on various television channels and performs across genres including folk, jari, and Sufi music. He is additionally associated with the “Matir Gaan” band, where he continues to play the dhol.
Speaking about his journey, Palash Sheikh said, “Since childhood, I dreamed of becoming a popular dhol player, and I’ve grown up chasing that dream.”
He added that he remains deeply grateful to his mentors who introduced him to music. “As long as I live, I want to stay connected to music and continue playing the dhol for Bangla songs both at home and abroad,” he said.
