Eid journey must be made smooth: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Acting Commissioner Md. Sarwar has stressed the need for heightened vigilance by police members to ensure a smooth and safe journey for people leaving the capital during the upcoming Eid.

He said this while addressing the monthly crime review meeting at the conference room of the DMP headquarters today.

Sarwar instructed all police members to remain alert so that no incidents of crime, robbery or disorderly gatherings, or other unlawful activities occur during the period.

He also emphasized that police personnel must perform their duties with complete honesty and professionalism to enhance the image and effectiveness of the police.

To ensure the safe and sound movement of passengers, additional police forces will be deployed across the city during the Eid period, he said.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam said there will have special vigilance and supervision at major bus and launch terminals.

He said that patrol duties across Dhaka city would be intensified during the Eid holidays. CCTV cameras installed in Eid markets and shopping malls will be regularly monitored to ensure they are functioning properly.

During the meeting, the DMP acting commissioner also awarded officers of different ranks for their outstanding contributions to maintaining law and order, crime control and ensuring public safety in the capital.
