Phase two of 'Operation Devil Hunt' to be launched immediately  

Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today ordered the immediate launch of the second phase of "Operation Devil Hunt" and directed authorities to strengthen the operation to apprehend fascist Awami League (AL) terrorists, following the attack on Inqilab Manch spokesperson Osman Hadi.

"We have decided to begin phase two of Operation Devil Hunt. The operation must be further strengthened to effectively contain the fascist terrorists," he said.

Home Adviser said made the remarks while briefing journalists after a Core Committee meeting on law and order at the Home Ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat.

He also announced a cash reward of Tk 50 lakh for anyone providing information leading to the arrest of the attackers involved in the assault on Osman Hadi.

"We are offering a cash reward of Tk 50 lakh for information that helps bring the attackers of Osman Hadi to justice," he said.

The Home Adviser emphasized that the Interim Government is fully committed to ensuring the safety of the forefront July Warriors, adding that special security arrangements are being taken for them.

He said the Interim Government, including the Home Ministry, strongly condemned the attack and pledged to capture the perpetrators as quickly as possible.

"We have already instructed law enforcement agencies to bring the culprits to justice. No one involved in the attack will be spared," he added, noting that the government has attached topmost priority to the case and urged the public to cooperate fully.

Regarding the motive behind the attack, the Home Adviser said the government believes it was aimed at disrupting the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections.

"The Interim Government will prevent any attempts to obstruct the national election and will deal with such acts firmly," he said.

Osman Hadi was seriously injured by motorcycle-riding assailants in the capital's Bijoynagar Box Culvert area on Friday and is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital.
