Govt chalks out national programme on Martyred Intellectuals’ Day

The government has chalked out  a number of national-level programmes to observe the Martyred Intellectuals’ Day 2025 on December 14 with due respect. 

President Mohammed Shahabuddin will place a wreath at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals’ Memorial at 7:05 am and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will lay a wreath at 7:06am.

Bangladesh Television as well as other private TV channels will broadcast the programme live.

Under the leadership of liberation war affairs adviser, family members of the martyred intellectuals and the wounded and present freedom fighters will place wreaths at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Memorial at 7:22 am and at Rayer Bazar Killing Ground Memorial at 8:30 am on the same day.

Besides, various political and social organizations along with people from all walks of life will place wreaths at the Martyred Intellectuals’ Memorial at 8:30 am.

Marking the day, the President and the Chief Adviser will issue commemorative messages. 

Discussions highlighting the significance of the day will be held at the district and upazila levels. Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television, and other private TV channels will air special programmes marking the day.

Special prayers will be offered at all mosques, temples, churches, pagodas, and other places of worship in observance of the Martyred Intellectuals’ Day.

To maintain the sanctity of the day, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has requested the general public not to use microphones or loudspeakers in the Martyred Intellectuals’ Memorial area.
