Election schedule to be announced this week: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today said the schedule for the 13th National Parliament elections and referendum will be announced this week.


"The polls schedule will be announced this week." he told reporters after a meeting with Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed this afternoon.


Regarding the meeting with the Chief Justice, the CEC said, "I have come to pay a courtesy call on the Chief Justice. He will retire this month. We have worked together. That is why I have come to have a farewell meeting with him."


Nasir Uddin said, "They will deploy the Electoral Inquiry Committee. I have requested them to expedite this work as soon as our schedule is announced."


Replying to a query, the CEC said, "He (Chief Justice) is taking appropriate measures regarding the deployment of the Electoral Inquiry Committee, and he has assured that there will be no difficulty." 


Earlier, the Chief Election Commissioner came to the Supreme Court to meet the Chief Justice at around 1:35 pm. At that time, Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui welcomed the CEC at the Supreme Court.
