Govt decides to declare Khaleda Zia a VVIP

The interim government today decided to declare three-time former Prime Minister, wife of a former President and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia a VVIP considering her smooth treatment in the hospital, security, travel privileges, and high status.

The decision came at a special meeting of the Council of Advisers at the State Guest House Jamuna here with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in the chair. 

"The meeting decided to declare Begum Khaleda Zia a Very Very Important Person (VVIP) of the State considering her current physical condition, her smooth treatment in the hospital, plans to take her abroad for advanced treatment if necessary, her security and travel facilities, and her high status," Planning Adviser Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud said at a briefing in front of Jamuna after the meeting. 

All relevant agencies have been directed to implement the decision immediately, he said, adding, Khaleda Zia's family and her party have been informed of these decisions. 

The meeting also offered prayers seeking the early recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia.

The government called upon the countrymen to pray for her early recovery.
