Tigresses seek winning end to World Cup

Sports Desk

In a bid to end the ICC Cricket World Cup with a winning note, the Bangladesh Women’s team will take on India in their last match at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai today (Sunday).

The match starts at 3.30 PM (Bangladesh Time). T Sports will air the match live.

Bangladesh came into the World Cup with an aim to win at least two matches, targeting victory against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. While they beat Pakistan with ease to make a winning start to the tournament, they lost the match to Sri Lanka in surreal fashion.

Needing just 12 runs from last two overs with seven wickets at hands, Bangladesh found a way to lose the match in ridiculous fashion. They lost five wickets in those 12 balls, giving Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu four wickets in four balls and eventually fell short seven runs from the victory.

Apart from New Zealand and Australia, Bangladesh Women’s indeed put up fight against all teams and could have won those matches if they became more proactive in their strategy and analyzing match situation.

Bangladesh, however, still can end up with two wins had they were able to beat India in their last match.

The Tigresses so far met India eight times in this format and won just one, while losing six matches. The remaining match was washed out.

Also a victory against India would help Bangladesh to pull them from the bottom place amongst the eight teams.

Indian Women’s team had already sealed the place in semi-final but they are unlikely to take Bangladesh lightly, knowing that a defeat before the semi-final game make them morally down.
