Kings takes on Baridhara in BPL opener tomorrow

DHAKA, – Holders Bashundhara Kings take on Uttar Baridhara Club in the lone opening first round match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football that begins from tomorrow at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) here.

The match kicks off at 4 pm.

The Federation Cup football just ended on Sunday last with Bashundhara Kings becoming the champions. After a break of just two days, the Federation Cup champions got a little respite as they will start the league campaign from tomorrow with a new mission.

This time the BPL will be held in four different venues. Apart from BNS and Comilla stadium, the leagues will be held in Munshiganj and Gazipur stadiums as well. The last two venues of the league have been included for the first in BPL.

Gazipur’s Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium and Munshiganj’s Birshreshtha flight lieutenant Motiur Rahman stadium are going to make their debut as the two new venues.

However, the first round matches of the league will not be held outside the venue of Dhaka. The first match of the first round will be played at BNS. All the matches of the first round have been kept at BNS in the draft schedule prepared by the professional league committee of Bangladesh Football Federation.

After the opening match between Bashundhara Kings and Uttar Baridhara Club, the second match between Dhaka Abahani Limited and Bangladesh Police Football Club will be held on the following day (Jan. 14).

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will play against Brothers Union Club on January 15 while Saif Sporting Club meet traditional old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society on January 16.

Arambagh Krira Sangha will take on Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited on January 17 while lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club face Chittagong Abahani Limited in the last match of the first round on January 18.
