HBO has announced the new stars of its ‘Harry Potter’ series: Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
Selected from over 30,000 auditions from actors, the young actors will begin filming this summer.
Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod praised the trio’s “extraordinary talent.” The cast also includes John Lithgow as Dumbledore and Janet McTeer as McGonagall.
McLaughlin previously appeared in ‘Grow’, while Stanton starred as Matilda on the West End. This marks Stout’s first major role. The series is produced by HBO, Brontë Film and TV, and Warner Bros, with J.K. Rowling also executive producing. Despite controversy surrounding Rowling, HBO insists the show remains separate from her personal views.
