HSIA enhances security, luggage delivery services ahead of Eid

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) has implemented special measures to enhance passenger services, ensuring a safe, smooth, and comfortable travel experience ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

"Security measures at the airport have been beefed up to improve passenger safety and service quality. Assistance desks and a 24/7 hotline service have also been set up, ensuring travelers’ access to necessary information and support at any time," HSIA Executive Director Group Captain M Kamrul Islam told BSS today.

Considering the anticipated increase in the number of passengers during the Eid holiday rush, security agencies such as AVSEC, Bangladesh Air Force Taskforce, and APBN will maintain heightened vigilance to support travelers, Islam added.

To further facilitate smooth travel, special arrangements have been made for faster luggage delivery, enabling passengers to collect their belongings swiftly and hassle-free.

In a bid to enhance service delivery, HSIA has introduced a 24/7 hotline call center, a dynamic bilingual website, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.

Additionally, a dedicated coordination team comprising young and energetic members has been formed to swiftly address passenger issues.

Passengers can now dial the hotline at 13600 (shortcode) or 09614-013600 (longcode) to seek assistance at any hour.

Upon lodging a complaint or query, passengers receive a tracking number via SMS and email, enabling them to monitor the progress of their case.

“We are working in close coordination with various agencies to enhance overall passenger service during Eid-ul-Fitr,” Islam said.

To accommodate the surge in the number of travelers, flight frequencies have been increased, especially on domestic routes operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines and other private carriers.

“Biman will operate 13 additional flights on the Dhaka-Rajshahi, Dhaka-Syedpur, and Dhaka-Barishal routes alongside its regular schedule to meet the increased demand during Eid,” Biman’s Managing Director and CEO Dr Shafiqur Rahman told BSS.

The national flag carrier will operate seven extra flights on the Dhaka-Rajshahi-Dhaka route on March 26, 27, 28, 29, and two on March 30.

Similarly, five special flights on the Dhaka-Syedpur-Dhaka route will operate daily from March 26 to March 29, with two additional flights on March 30.

Additionally, Biman will operate one extra flight on the Dhaka-Barishal-Dhaka route on March 27.

Private carrier Air Astra has added two extra daily flights to Saidpur, supplementing its regular two daily flights on the route ahead of Eid.

“We will also operate three additional flights to Cox's Bazar after the Eid holiday,” said Air Astra’s CEO Imran ASif.

However, the country’s largest private carrier, US-Bangla Airlines, has not announced any additional flights, while another private airline, Novoair has only readjusted its existing 16 daily flights across seven domestic destinations.
