Govt to ensure tougher action against rapists: Home Adviser

"The government will ensure trial of the miscreants who were involved in recent rape incidents . . the accused would be brought to book", he said.

The adviser made this comment as he visited the minor child, who was gang raped in Magura, at the Combine Military Hospital (CMH) here this morning.

Instructions have been given to the law enforcement agencies to take strict action against women harassment and rape, he said, adding that directives have also been given to submit report before the court after completing quick investigation of all enlisted violence, so far, committed against women.

During the visit, the home adviser was informed about treatment of the victim minor child and instructed the hospital authority to ensure her maximum treatment.

The CMH high officials also were present during this time.

The women, Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, will perform their duties inside and outside of their homes fearlessly and without any hesitation. Those who will oppose them and commit violence would be brought to book and they [perpetrators] would not be spared.

Earlier, the home adviser made a phone call to the victim's mother on Tuesday noon (March 6) and wanted to know whereabouts of the child. The adviser also assured the victim's mother to provide maximum treatment facilities.

The victim child was shifted to CMH from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday.

A case was filed against four persons with Magura Sadar Police Station on charges of committing rape and trying to murder the eight-year-old-girl in Magura.
