Adviser Nahid Islam resigns

The interim government's adviser of the ministries for Information and Broadcasting, and Post, Telecommunications and ICT, M Nahid Islam resigned from his post today. 

He submitted his resign letter to Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus.

At the same time, Nahid resigned from all the government committees, he said.

Briefing reporters in front of the State Guest House Jamuna here, Nahid Islam said, "I have submitted my resignation to the Chief Adviser." 

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government in the face of student-people movement on August 5 in 2024, the interim government was formed on August 8 and coordinator of the anti-discrimination students movement, Nahid Islam joined the council of advisers led by Professor Muhammad Yunus. 

Nahid took charge of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. 

In his resignation letter, Nahid said in the present context, he thinks that he should come in the line of students-people in the greater interest of the country and the nation, and that is why he should resign.

He expressed his gratitude to Chief Adviser Prof Yunus for taking the charge of the office of the head of the interim government and taking the lead in building the country free from discrimination, hunger and poverty.
