CA urges all to follow poet Madhusudan Dutt's ideals in nation building

Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus today urged all to engage themselves in the work of nation-building being imbued with patriotism-based ideals of Michael Madhusudan Dutt, the legendary Bengali poet and father of the Bengali sonnet.

"I call upon everyone to be inspired by the great poet's ideals of patriotism and dedicate ourselves to the work of nation-building," he said in a message marking the 201st birth anniversary of Michael Madhusudan Dutt to be observed tomorrow.

Michael Madhusudan Dutt's deep love for his motherland and mother tongue has been reflected in his works in many ways despite his long stay in the foreign country, the Chief Adviser said.

On the eve of the great poet's birth anniversary, he also paid glowing tributes to the memories of Madhusudan on behalf of the entire Bengali-speaking people.

He wished all programmes taken on the birth anniversary of the poet a success.

Yunus welcomed the initiative taken to organize a seven-day 'Madhusudan Janma Utsab' and 'Madhumela 2025' at Sagardari in Jashore district, the poet's sacred birthplace, by the Jashore District Administration in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and ahead of the 201st birth anniversary of the great poet Michael Madhusudan Dutt, the beacon of modernity in Bengali literature.

Born on January 25 in 1824, the great poet Madhusudan Dutt had secured his position as a proverbial figure in Bengali literature through his multidimensional signature in various branches of Bengali literature including epics, sonnets, dramas and farces, he said.

Madhusudan Dutt had brought a touch of modernity to the literary style, he added.

The Chief Adviser said the trend of modernity that the great poet introduced in Bengali literature has served as a guide for the subsequent poets and writers.
