Private Clinic Owner Allegedly Receives Death Threats Amid Reclamation Efforts

In Barguna, Pathorghata municipal a private clinic and pharmacy owner, Md Tayfur Rahman, along with his wife and staff, has allegedly been receiving death threats as he tries to reclaim his illegally occupied property. Mr. Tayfur Rahman lost by 75 lacs above.

Mr. Tayfur Rahman has operated the Ma Aid Health Care Diagnostic Center and Ma Aid Model Pharma under license number HSM4519160 and drug license number BRT-1224 since 2016. According to his complaint, on June 6, 2021, local criminals forcibly took control of both the clinic and pharmacy, threatening him with death. That same day, he filed a General Diary (GD) at the Patharghata Police Station, recorded as GD Number 220.

In pursuit of justice, Mr. Tayfur Rahman submitted a formal petition to the Deputy Commissioner of Barguna on January 26, 2022, under Memo Number 451. Later, on March 28, 2022, he appealed to the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bangladesh with Memo Number 44.00.0000.056.27.001.2022.337. Mr. Tayfur Rahman claims that the perpetrators are protected by a former Member of Parliament and local political leaders, allegedly using their influence to maintain illegal control over the property.

He alleges that the criminals wield illicit money, unauthorized weapons, and political power, leveraging their connections to exert control over government offices. Mr. Tayfur Rahman further alleges that he, his wife, Mariam Akhter, and his office supervisor and manager have been repeatedly threatened with death and violence.

Currently, Md Tayfur Rahman and his family live in fear, hoping for swift and decisive intervention from the authorities to bring justice and restore their property.
