Salman, Inu, Menon, Kamal shown arrested in several cases

A court today shown arrested  former private industry affairs adviser Salman F Rahman, ex-ministers Hasanul Haque Inu, Rashed Khan Menon and Kamal Ahmed Majumder in connection with different murder and attempt to murder cases.

The investigation officers (IOs) of the concerned cases produced them before the court of metropolitan magistrate Sharifur Rahman and prayed for showing them arrested in those cases filed with city’s different police stations.

The metropolitan magistrate after hearing the statements of the prosecution side granted the petitions of the IOs.

The lawyers of the accused also moved bail petitions before the court but the court ordered to send them to jail rejecting their bail petitions.

According to the court sources, Salman F Rahman, private industry affairs adviser to the ousted Sheikh Hasina government, was shown arrested in a case filed with New Market police station over an attempt to murder Muhammad Shamim, a student who took part in the anti-discrimination student movement.

Former state minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder was shown arrested in two separate cases filed with Rampura and Kafrul police stations over deaths of Sohan Shah, a garment worker of Rampura area and Mahbub Hasan Mamun in Kafrul area.

Former information minister and president of Jatiya Somajtantrik Dal Hasanul Haque Inu was shown arrested for his alleged involvement in an attack on a procession of BNP leader Mirza Abbas during the campaign of the mayoral election in 2015.

Former minister and president of the Workers Party Rashed Khan Menon was shown arrested for his alleged involvement in an attack on a motorcade of Afroza Abbas at Motijheel area on April 28 in 2015.

Salman F Rahman was arrested by police from city’s Sadarghat area on August 13 and Rashed Khan Menon was arrested from the Gulshan area on August 22.

Kamal Ahmed Majumder was arrested from Gulshan area on October 28 and Hasanul Haque Inu was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police from city’s Uttara area on August 26.
