Jamaat wants to fulfill dreams of July-August uprising martyrs: Shafiqur

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today termed the martyrs of the July movement as national heroes and said his party is determined to fulfill their dreams.

“We are determined to fulfill their dreams. They organized countrywide anti-discrimination movements during July-August and freed the nation from the curse of autocratic rules,” he said while speaking at the workers’ conference of his party’s Khanjahan Ali Thana Unit on the Eastern Jute Mills Sramik ground in the city.

The martyrs of July-August uprising stood in front of bullets aiming to build a discrimination-free Bangladesh, he said.

He said, "We want to build a Bangladesh free from discrimination, where there will no differences among people irrespective of caste, party, or religion. All people will enjoy their legitimate rights with dignity as citizens of this country.”

Dr Shafiqur also said that the dictator was ousted in exchange of blood of hundreds of students.

He urged all to remain vigilant against any kind of conspiracy so that tyrants cannot come back on the soil of Bengal anymore.

In the past 17 years, the people of the country had been subjected to repression most by the Awami League ruler. The fascist AL started their killing journey on October 28 in 2006 through ‘Logi-Baitha.’ The fascist Al ruler killed 57 talent army officers and disappeared many of them during BDR mutinies which were continued until August 5 this year.

Criticizing AL government, the Jamaat Ameer said, they (AL) destroyed country’s two strong pillars during their tenure. One of the pillars is country’s patriotic army and BDR, a para military bahini and another pillar is country’s testified patriotic organization Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar slammed Awami League government saying they destroyed all jute mills and agricultural lands in the region.

He also demanded reopening of all closed Jute Mills, to pay dues salaries and allowances of labourers

Khanjahan Ali Thana Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sayed Hasan Mahmud presided over the conference while  party’s central leader Mobarak Hossain, Jamaat-e-Islami central organizing secretary and director of Khulna region Muhaddis Abdul Khaleque, central working committee member Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, among others addressed it. Khanjahan ali Thana Jamaat-e-Islami secretary Gazi Morshed Mamun conducted it.

Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer joined a gathering of Khulna City Unit of women’s Jamaat at Al Faruk Society in the city as chief guest.
