A total of 768 cadre and non-cadre officials got promotion to different ranks from assistant secretary to senior secretary during the August-October period of the interim government that took oath on August 8.
According to the Ministry of Public Administration, the government promoted 12 officials to the rank of senior secretary/secretary, three to grade-1 position, 135 to additional secretary posts, 226 to the rank of joint secretary, 125 to deputy secretary posts, 221 officers from other cadres, nine to the rank of senior assistant secretary (non-cadre) and 37 to the posts of assistant secretary (non-cadre).
It said the government sent four officials to the force retirement during the last three months.
The ministry also said that 80 officers holding ranks from assistant secretary to senior secretary/secretary were made officer on special duty (OSD).
During the three-month, the government also cancelled the contractual appointment of 101 officers, it said.
The government also appointed 65 persons to different important positions such as ambassadors to Russia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia along with other countries, chairmen to different organizations, physicians to different hospitals, project directors of various projects etc.
Besides, the ministry has filed department cases against seven officials during the last three months
At the same time, the government transferred a total of 1,870 officials from various levels of administration to different positions from August to October.
The officials included 43 senior secretaries/secretaries, 11 grade-1 officers, 137 additional secretaries, 173 joint secretary level officers, 351 deputy secretaries, four divisional commissioners, three additional divisional commissioners, 59 deputy commissioners, 118 additional deputy commissioners, 165 upazila nirbahi officers, 414 senior assistant secretaries/assistant secretaries, 83 senior assistant commissioners/assistant commissioners, 126 armed force officers, 39 executive magistrates/legal officers/marine safety officers, 18 deputy directors/directors (Local government), 30 chief executives of zila parisad and executives, 18 zonal settlement officers, six officers-in-charge, 19 chief executive officers of poursava, three executive officers of cantonment and 10 others.
Besides, the government also formed a committee to look into the appeals of the government officials who were reportedly deprived of promotion from 2009 to August 4, 2024.
The committee under the Ministry of Public Administration will review the appeals of the deprived officials.
