The government today formed the new broad of directors of the national news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
Special Correspondent of the The Daily Ittefaq Anwar Aldin has been made the chairman of the board.
In line with the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Act 2018, the 13-member board has been constituted comprising media figures and government representatives.
The board will function for next three years, according to a gazette notification issued today.
BSS Managing Director and Chief Editor Mahbub Morshed, by virtue of his position would serve as the member-secretary of the BSS board.
Other members of the board are- Mokarram Hossain, editor, of the Daily New Nation, Alamgir Mohiuddin, editor of Dainik Naya Diganta, Shirin Bharasa, editor of Dainik Juger Alo of Rangpur, Fakrul Alam Kanchan, chief news editor of Ntv, Nure Alam Masud, a software engineer and web developer.
Under the BSS law, Joint secretary (press) of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; a joint secretary of Finance Division, a joint secretary of Home Ministry, a joint secretary of Foreign Affairs Ministry and Principal Information Office (PIO) will be the members of the board.
Fazlul Huq, a special correspondent of BSS and BSS unit chief of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) will represent the employees of BSS in the board.
