Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping Brigadier General (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain today urged local and foreign investors to invest in the country's maritime and offshore industry to tap huge opportunities of the sector.
He made the call while inaugurating the 6th edition of International Exhibition titled “Bangladesh International Marine and Offshore Expo (BIMOX 2024)” incorporating “Ship Building”,
“Ship Recycling”, “Offshore Oil & Gas Support”, “Shipping, Logistic & Port”, “Fishing Vessels, Fishery”, “Process Automation” at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the city, said a press release.
Savor International Limited has organised the exhibition in order to demonstrating new innovative, technologies, materials, equipment, and methods in concern sectors and explore the avenue for the participants, organizations and patrons in a single domicile.
Sakhawat said,
“Bangladesh is a unique place in the globe. The country has world's largest bay. Besides, there are a lot of labours, and river and sea ports. One-third people are connected with river and sea. So, the industry eyes huge opportunity. We will welcome all investors here."
The adviser noted that Bangladesh would be a real shipbuilding nation. "Now we need collaboration among experts and other stakeholders to grow the industry. We are now very transparent," he also said.
Besides, Rear Admiral Khandakar Akhter Hossain, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (M), Bangladesh Navy; Christian Brix Moller, Ambassador of the Royal Danish Embassy in Dhaka and André Carstens, Head of Mission of Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Dhaka, among others, were present on the occasion.
The exhibition will continue till November 09, 2024 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm every day.
In this exhibition, Companies from 15 different countries including Bangladesh have given stunning views of their products, technologies and services in more than 180 booths.
