2 fishermen jailed for catching Hilsa in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, – A mobile court sentenced two fishermen to different terms imprisonment on charges of flouting ban on catching Hilsa fish in the river Jamuna in the small hours of today.

Fisheries Department sources said the mobile court conducted a drive in the river Jamuna at Gunapara area of Islampur and detained two fishermen for catching Hilsha fish.

Executive Magistrate of the mobile court Md Rokanuzzaman Khan sentenced fishermen- Innat Ali ,32 son of Zarip Mondal to 15 days jail and Farid Uddin, 26 son of Kerat Ullah to one month imprisonment.

The court also seized 1000 meter current net and five kilogram of mother Hilsha fish in the drive.
