Popular pop sjnger Juel appreciate and congratulates newly selected interim government head Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus after a
meeting of President Mohammed Shahabuddin with chiefs of the three services and the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement held yesterday.
Previously he was on the students side, who were fighting against the government of the country in quata reform protest.
Singer Juel Chowdhury also stood beside
musician and rapper, Hannan Hossain Shimul, who was arrested on July 25 in Narayanganj for one of his song based on quota reform.
Hannan was placed on a two-day remand for his song, ‘Awaaz Utha’, on the
student movement demanding quota reform in government jobs.
‘Awaaz Utha’, released on July 18 on Facebook and YouTube, received over eight lakh views and is currently the 5th track on YouTube’s trending list.
While talking to The Asian Age, pop singer Juel condemned Hannan’s arrest
amidst ongoing protests and escalating violence in Bangladesh.
He said, “The people who try to raise their voice against the brutal repression by
the Bangladeshi security forces are being harassed.”
He called for the immediate release of Hannan and expressed his solidarity with
the people, who have confronted brutal repression by the Bangladeshi security
forces.
To mention, Juel Chowdhury started singing and acting at the age of 9. He
appeared in BTV from Gandaria Kochi Kachar Ashor in 1979. Then he finished his
schooling and HSC and started acting in BTV as a casual artist.
He acted in a famous BTV drama serial called Kon Kanoner Ful. He started playing
guitar and joined the band called Music Touch, whose famous song was Chol
Koira Shob Kaira Nili. He was the bass guitarist of that track. He has performed
several BTV music shows with his Band.
After completing Masters Degree, he left Bangladesh for higher studies in South
Africa in 1996. Now he is doing private business in South Africa and doing music
side by side.
