Prime Minister's Adviser on Public Administration Ismail Zabiullah has called on member political parties to work together to implement the decisions and declarations adopted at the ICAPP conference.
Such joint efforts would enable ICAPP to play a more effective role in promoting peace, democracy, stability and prosperity in Asia, he said.
Zabiullah made the remarks while delivering his presidential address at the fifth and final plenary session of the conference at the Dynasty Hall of Hotel Shilla in Seoul today.
He said his election as ICAPP vice-chairperson and the responsibility of presiding over the final plenary session were not merely personal achievements but reflected friendship, mutual trust and cooperation between Bangladesh and political parties across Asia, as well as their ties with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
He praised the constructive speeches, valuable opinions and proposals presented by representatives of different countries.
He also commended the participants for their sincere efforts, cooperation and consensus in drafting and adopting the conference declaration.
These efforts reflected a shared commitment to strengthening mutual understanding, democracy, peace and regional cooperation among political parties in Asia, he added.
The 'Seoul Declaration' emphasised that rebuilding trust in a changing world requires respect for international law, responsible national leadership, stronger and more inclusive national and international institutions, fulfilment of international commitments, and sustained dialogue and cooperation across political and geographical divides.
It also recognised the special responsibility of political parties as bridges connecting governments, parliaments and citizens across Asia in building such trust.
On the concluding day, BNP delegation leader Md. Ismail Zabiullah and the party's Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince presented commemorative greetings to ICAPP Chairman Chung Jung-sek, Secretary General Oh Song, Vice-Chairman Mushahid Hussain Sayed, and the leaders of the two South Korean co-hosting parties - ruling Minjoo (Democratic) Party leader Kim Min-seok and opposition People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk.
They invited the leaders to visit Bangladesh and conveyed greetings on behalf of BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Representatives of political parties from across Asia attended the 13th General Assembly of ICAPP, jointly hosted by South Korea's ruling Minjoo (Democratic) Party and opposition People Power Party.
The conference has opened up new opportunities for political dialogue, mutual trust and cooperation at regional and international levels.
