Rangamati, September 27, 2026: World Tourism Day 2026 was celebrated for the first time in a grand manner at Sajek Valley, a renowned tourist destination enriched with natural beauty, diverse indigenous cultures and significant tourism potential.
The event was organized by the Rangamati Parbatya District Council under the supervision of the Cottage and Resort Owners Association of Sajek, with overall cooperation from the Bangladesh Tourism Board and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation. Local communities, tourism entrepreneurs and relevant stakeholders also participated in the event.
The day's program began with a road show from Rangamati to Sajek, joined by the Chairman of the Rangamati Parbatya District Council, officials and tourism stakeholders. Following a formal inauguration with a balloon release, a colorful procession was held from Sajek Entry Point to Zero Point, showcasing the traditional attire and cultural heritage of the local communities.
The day's activities also included a cleanliness campaign, tree plantation program, inauguration of a traditional food court and a photography exhibition. The official website of the Cottage and Resort Owners Association of Sajek was also launched as part of the program.
The Chief Guest was Mr. Dipan Talukder Dipu, Chairman, Rangamati Parbatya District Council. The Special Guests included Lt. Col. Md. Tarekul Imran, PSC, Zone Commander, Baghaihat Zone & Cheif Patron of the Cottage and Resort Owners Association of Sajek. Mr. Advocate Mohammad Mamunur Rashid, General Secretary, Rangamati Zilla BNP & Honorable Member of Rangamati Parbatya District Council. Also Mr. Shwashata Chakma, Member in Charge of Tourism of Rangamati Parbatya District Council and other distinguished guests were also present. The program was presided over by Mr. Suparna Deb Barman, Honorable Member of Rangamati Parbatya District Council & President of the Cottage and Resort Owners Association of Sajek.
In the afternoon, a cultural program was held at the Sajek Helipad premises featuring artists from the Lusai, Tripura, Chakma and Marma communities. As part of cultural exchange tourism, invited Manipuri artists presented a special traditional dance performance accompanied by Mridang, adding a distinctive cultural dimension to the celebration.
Representatives of the media, tourism vloggers, influencers and tourists attended the event. The organizers said the celebration was an initiative to highlight Sajek's natural beauty, cultural diversity and indigenous heritage by connecting them with tourism, thereby showcasing the destination's broader tourism potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
