Country singer Ella Langley\u2019s \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d has made Billboard history, becoming the longest-running No 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by a single song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The track has now spent 23 weeks at No 1, surpassing Mariah Carey\u2019s holiday classic \u201cAll I Want for Christmas Is You\u201d, which previously held the record with 22 weeks at the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Carey\u2019s 1994 hit could challenge the record again during the Christmas season, when it traditionally returns to the top of the chart. Depending on how long \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d remains at No 1 before December, Langley\u2019s record could either extend further or face renewed competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The song\u2019s continued success comes despite its lengthy chart run. \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d has spent 48 weeks on the Hot 100, with nearly half of those weeks at the top position. While its streaming numbers declined slightly this week, increased radio play has helped maintain its momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The song recorded 21.8 million official streams this week, down 9% from the previous week, while its radio airplay audience impressions rose 2% to 58.3 million. It remains No 1 on Billboard\u2019s Streaming Songs and Digital Songs charts and climbed to No 2 on the Radio Songs chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Langley\u2019s album \u201cDandelion\u201d has also performed strongly, returning to No 1 on the Billboard 200 chart last week before dropping to No 2 this week following Jhene Aiko\u2019s album debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The singer is also expected to have a major awards season ahead. Grammy nominations will be announced on November 16, while the CMA Awards will take place on November 18, where Langley leads the nominations with nine nods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Country music continues to dominate the Hot 100, with Stella Lefty\u2019s \u201cBoston\u201d at No 2 and Morgan Wallen\u2019s \u201cBeen by Now\u201d at No 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rest of the top 10 includes Ariana Grande\u2019s \u201cHate That I Made You Love Me\u201d at No 4, Tame Impala and Jennie\u2019s \u201cDracula\u201d at No 5, Taylor Swift\u2019s \u201cI Knew It, I Knew You\u201d at No 6, Karol G\u2019s \u201cBby Wow\u201d at No 7, Olivia Dean\u2019s \u201cSo Easy (to Fall in Love)\u201d and \u201cMan I Need\u201d at Nos 8 and 9, and Langley\u2019s second hit \u201cBe Her\u201d at No 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
