Hania Aamir has spoken out against the growing trend of women being trolled over their bodies, appearances and age, calling out creators who disguise misogyny as commentary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The actor took to Instagram to share a lengthy note aimed at the culture of turning women\u2019s appearances and personal lives into online content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn 2026, using women\u2019s bodies, faces, appearances, age and personal lives as a punchline is ridiculous,\u201d she wrote, arguing that labelling such remarks as an opinion or a joke did not excuse them. \u201cAnd \u2018it\u2019s my take\u2019 is not a free pass. Neither is calling it humour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She drew a clear distinction between criticism and cruelty. \u201cYou can have a take. You can be critical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You can be funny,\u201d she wrote, \u201cbut there is a very clear line between commentary and turning a woman\u2019s existence into content.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also pointed to the influence wielded by public figures and content creators, warning that their words could shape how audiences viewed such behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWords have consequences beyond the moment they are said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Especially when they come from people with large platforms,\u201d she wrote. \u201cYou are not speaking into a void.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You are shaping what other people think is normal, funny and acceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aamir extended that responsibility to audiences as well, arguing that likes, views and shares could end up rewarding the very content people claimed to oppose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe cannot keep demanding better from society while simultaneously rewarding the very behaviour we claim to be against,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her central message was direct: \u201cWomen are not public property. Their bodies are not public commentary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their faces are not public discourse. And honestly, we should have evolved past this by now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She closed by urging people to stop engaging with such content altogether. \u201cStop giving this kind of content your attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stop giving it reach. Stop making a spectacle out of women and calling it entertainment,\u201d she wrote, before adding, \u201cWe can do better than this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
