Quentin Tarantino is set to revisit one of his most memorable characters with The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a novel centred on the stuntman played by Brad Pitt in his 2019 film Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Published by Harper, the book will be written by Tarantino and released on 8 December 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Set in Hollywood in 1977, the novel follows Clifford Booth eight years after the events of the original film. Harper\u2019s synopsis describes Booth as a war hero, stuntman, bartender and cinema projectionist who occasionally takes on \u201cclandestine services\u201d for friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The book arrives as Tarantino\u2019s character also returns to the big screen in The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, a feature follow-up to Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. David Fincher is directing the film, with Pitt reprising his role as Booth. Tarantino wrote the screenplay, while Pitt and Ce\u00e1n Chaffin are producing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The upcoming film is set in 1977 and will follow Booth as he navigates a Hollywood that has changed considerably since the events of the first film. The cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis and Karren Karagulian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fincher\u2019s longtime collaborators are also involved in the production, including cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt, production designer Donald Graham Burt and editor Kirk Baxter. Laray Mayfield serves as casting director, with Trish Summerville as costume designer, Ren Klyce as sound designer and Dave Macomber as stunt coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth is scheduled for a two-week global IMAX run from 25 November before arriving on Netflix on 23 December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pitt won his first acting Oscar for playing Booth in Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood at the 2020 Academy Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarantino previously explained that he chose not to direct the follow-up because he did not want his final directorial project to be a sequel. Speaking on the Church of Tarantino podcast last year, he said he loved the screenplay but felt he was \u201cstill walking down the same ground\u201d he had already covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
