{"id":35338,"date":"2026-07-11T09:23:05","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T09:23:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebangladeshtoday.com\/?p=35338"},"modified":"2026-07-11T09:23:06","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T09:23:06","slug":"pm-inaugurates-dmc-day-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebangladeshtoday.com\/?p=35338","title":{"rendered":"PM Inaugurates DMC Day-2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today inaugurated the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Day-2026, marking the 80th anniversary of the college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Prime Minister inaugurated the programme by releasing balloons and pigeons at 10:00 am on the DMC campus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bssnews.net\/assets\/news_photos\/2026\/07\/11\/inside-image\/1783755725_1.jpg\" alt=\"Photo : BSS\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photo : BSS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was accompanied by his spouse, Dr Zubaida Rahman, an alumnus of Dhaka Medical College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the occasion, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Dr Zubaida Rahman, Vice-Chairperson of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, planted two saplings\u2014an Arjun tree and a Neem tree\u2014on the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the tree plantation, special \u2018munajat\u2019 was offered seeking eternal peace of the souls of those martyred in the 2024 July mass uprising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bssnews.net\/assets\/news_photos\/2026\/07\/11\/inside-image\/1783755922_1.jpg\" alt=\"Photo : PMO\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photo : PMO<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later, Chief Engineer of the Health Engineering Department Brigadier General Mir Sarwar Hossain Chowdhury briefed the Prime Minister about the construction of two female dormitories for Dhaka Medical College under a project to build 19 modern hostel buildings for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Prime Minister sought detailed information on the facilities and amenities that students would receive in the hostel buildings being constructed under the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain, State Minister Dr MA Muhit, Prime Minister's Special Assistant for Health Affairs&nbsp;Dr SM Ziauddin Hyder, Prime Minister's Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman, Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry Md Quamruzzaman Chowdhury, BNP Health Affairs Secretary Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) President Prof. Dr. Harun Al Rashid, Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) Director General Prof. Dr. Nazmul Hosain and Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Director General Prof. Dr. Pravath Chandra Biswas were present on the occasion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) began its journey on July 10, 1946, at the former Secretariat and the Faculty of Arts building of the University of Dhaka. &nbsp;The day is observed every year as DMC Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, the institution has completed 80 years and is entering its 81st year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today inaugurated the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Day-2026, marking the 80th anniversary of the college.
