Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will be reorganized into a more people-friendly, professional, and accountable force. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have undertaken various initiatives to reform RAB as a more pro-people and accountable force,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He made the remarks while addressing a programme, marking the 22nd founding anniversary of RAB at its headquarters in Uttara this afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ahmed said the government is working to strengthen public trust in the elite force through greater public engagement, transparency, accountability, and adherence to human rights, the rule of law, and professional ethics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government has taken various measures to reform the RAB including enhancing members\u2019 professional skills, ensuring minimum use of force during operations in line with international standards, and providing training on human rights and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in crime prevention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also announced plans to establish a specialized training centre for RAB at Jungle Salimpur in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister noted that although some officers were involved in unlawful activities during the previous \u201cfascist regime,\u201d the entire institution should not be blamed for the actions of a few individuals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed that there would be no political interference in the operations of state institutions under the current democratic government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ahmed further said the government is considering amending the existing law governing RAB and even changing the force\u2019s current name as part of broader reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSteps are also being taken to enact a dedicated RAB law and modernize the force in line with global standards,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Information, Policy, Strategy and Culture Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman attended the event as the special guest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
