State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury has said although Artificial Intelligence (AI) has opened new possibilities for creative industries and mass media worldwide, everyone must remain alert regarding its misuse and ethical risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the government supports the wise use of AI maintaining human values and emphasized that the technology should serve as a supportive tool for creativity in films and mass media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest a workshop on \u2018Strategies to Prevent the Spread of Rumors and Misinformation Through the Use of AI Technology in Film and Advertisement Distribution and Marketing\u2019 at the auditorium of the National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMC) in the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NIMC and Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI) jointly organised the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The state minister said all stakeholders must play conscious and responsible role so that AI becomes a tool for positive innovation in film, media, and digital content creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BCTI Chief Executive Abul Kalam Mohammad Shamsuddin chaired the event which also included the closing ceremony and certificate distribution for four courses conducted by BCTI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joint Secretary Dr. Md. Alam Mostafa and NIMC Additional Director General Rownak Jahan also spoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jagannath University teacher and filmmaker Labib Nazmus Sakib in his keynote paper highlighted the AI technologies such as de-aging, virtual production, and voice cloning in filmmaking and discussed new challenges related to authorship and censorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Referring to AI\u2019s role in advertising, he said that while it accelerates promotional activities, it also raises new concerns regarding data privacy and authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speakers at the discussion expressed deep concern over the risks of spreading rumors and misinformation through deepfakes, fake videos, and AI-driven bots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, they emphasized the positive use of AI in combating such threats through fact-checking tools and algorithmic detection systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Veteran film director Rafiquzzaman said that the core strength of cinema lies in human emotion, so the use of AI in mainstream filmmaking must be approached with extreme caution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
