Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Dipen Dewan today asked Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to play an effective role in integrating the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) into the mainstream of development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe three hill districts of the country are highly sensitive, and DCs must carry out their responsibilities while maintaining all aspects carefully,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He made this remark while speaking at the second session of the \u201cDeputy Commissioners\u2019 Conference-2026\u201d held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed the need for a balanced understanding of resource management, including land use, forest resource conservation, and resource extraction. \u201cTo ensure these goals DCs must have a clear understanding of the CHT,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the government is working to alleviate poverty through improvements in education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed the importance of constructing \u201cHeadman Offices\u201d in Khagrachhari, implementing safe drinking water projects in Bandarban, and building separate hostels for students in every upazila level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
State Minister for Land and CHT Affairs, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin attended the session as special guest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the concept of \u201cRainbow Nation\u201d introduced by Prime Minister Tarek Rahman is successfully reflected in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, where the harmony among diverse ethnic groups forms the foundation of the country\u2019s nationalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing field-level officials, the state minister said Bangladesh will not be allowed to become a safe haven for criminals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that ensuring people\u2019s rights, upholding human rights, guaranteeing constitutional rights for every citizen, and safeguarding the lives and property of the people will be ensured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
