Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the constitution will be amended by giving top priority to the expectations of the people and the aspirations of the martyrs of the student-mass uprising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists after the training closing parade of the 43rd BCS (Police) batch at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister said that all amendment processes would be carried out through a consensus-based agreement founded on the \u2018July National Charter\u2019 signed among political parties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that a Constitution Reform Committee would be formed to hold detailed discussions and formulate proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Responding to a question regarding the possible inclusion of Ziaur Rahman as the proclaimer of independence in the constitution, the Home Minister said the matter would be reviewed by the reform committee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will proceed based on the July National Charter, giving due importance to the current expectations of the people and the dreams of the martyrs of the July Uprising,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further noted that the committee would prepare a draft prioritizing the key issues outlined in the charter, which serves as a document of political consensus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The final decision on amendments would be taken through the constitutional process, including first, second, and third readings in the national parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing the certificate distribution ceremony as the chief guest, the minister said, \u201cA new chapter in your life begins today. This uniform is not merely a symbol of power\u2014it represents responsibility, sacrifice, and service.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged the newly commissioned officers to serve the country with honesty, courage, and humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Home Minister also congratulated the members of the 43rd BCS (Police) batch on successfully completing their training and wished them success in both their professional and personal lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
