The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has begun\u00a0preparations for the inaugural Women's Bangladesh Premier League (WBPL),\u00a0holding its first coordination meeting today at the Sher-e-Bangla National\u00a0
Cricket Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to the media after the meeting, BCB Women's Wing Chairperson Rubaba\u00a0Dowla said the tournament is expected to feature several prominent\u00a0international players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"Several international players have already expressed interest in the\u00a0tournament, and we will reveal their names later. In a few days, we will also\u00a0inform you which teams are taking part,\" she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"The teams will contact the players and finalize their recruitment. What I\u00a0can say for now is that some ellknown star players have shown interest.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There will be no country-specific restrictions, as the tournament is open to\u00a0all eligible overseas players, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"We are open to everyone. This is a tournament for all. Whoever shows\u00a0interest, and whichever teams want to recruit such players, can do so. It is\u00a0open to all, so we will see how it unfolds,\" she continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rubaba Dowla also confirmed that a draft system, rather than an auction, will\u00a0be used for player selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"The draft system will be adopted for player selection, and we will organise\u00a0a proper event for it. We also expect some international players to\u00a0participate,\" she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"Each team must have a minimum of two overseas players and possibly three to\u00a0four. We will finalize that soon,\" she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two venues-- Dhaka and Chattogram-- will host the tournament. It will begin\u00a0in Chattogram and conclude in Dhaka, with the final scheduled to be held at\u00a0the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Pohela Boishakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"As you know, we had earlier announced that the tournament would take place\u00a0between April 3 and April 15. However, we've now decided that matches will\u00a0start on April 4 in Chattogram, and the final will be eldin Dhaka on April\u00a014, which coincides with Pohela Boishakh (Bengali New Year). We plan to hold\u00a0
the closing ceremony on that day,\" she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In total, there will be six league matches plus one final for the inaugural\u00a0edition of WBPL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chattogram will hold the inauguration ceremony while the closing ceremony\u00a0will be held in Dhaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Women's Wing Chairperson expressed hope that the tournament would provide\u00a0a strong platform for local players to gain exposure and experience, helping\u00a0them reach greater heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"Our players are performing very well and achieving great success. Many\u00a0people across the country are being inspired by them,\" she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
