Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister\u00a0Md Asaduzzaman today said that honesty is inseparably linked with the term\u00a0\"judge\", warning that no one involved in corruption would be spared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"Judge means honest. The very word carries the quality of integrity,\" he\u00a0said, adding that anyone found guilty of corruption would face not only\u00a0administrative action but also criminal prosecution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister made the remarks while addressing an introductory meeting with\u00a0officials and employees of both divisions at the Ministry of Law, Justice and\u00a0Parliamentary Affairs on his first working day, following his oath-taking as\u00a0minister.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, secretaries and senior officials of the ministry formally welcomed\u00a0him, an official release said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Referring to widespread claims about corrupt judges and officials,\u00a0Asaduzzaman said there is actually no separate definition of an \"honest\u00a0judge\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"A judge is honest by definition. I do not want to see judges through the\u00a0lens of honesty or dishonesty,\" he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister further noted that those who feel their government salary is\u00a0insufficient to support their family should reconsider joining the judiciary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"If anyone thinks they cannot manage with their salary, they don't need to\u00a0take up this job. They may choose legal practice instead, especially since\u00a0judges have the opportunity to practice law after retirement. This is my\u00a0common message,\" he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On corruption, the law minister issued a firm warning: \"If anyone thinks they\u00a0can get away with corruption, that will not happen here.
