{"id":32162,"date":"2026-02-01T11:46:24","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T11:46:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebangladeshtoday.com\/?p=32162"},"modified":"2026-02-01T11:46:25","modified_gmt":"2026-02-01T11:46:25","slug":"sc-to-hear-plea-for-enhancing-hasina-kamal-sentences-on-feb-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebangladeshtoday.com\/?p=32162","title":{"rendered":"SC to hear plea for enhancing Hasina-Kamal sentences on Feb 25"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC)\u00a0today set February 25 for hearing an appeal filed by the ICT prosecution\u00a0seeking enhancement of the sentences of Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan\u00a0<br>Kamal from imprisonment till death to death in a crimes against humanity case\u00a0over the July Mass Uprising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Appellate Division Judge in Chamber Justice Md Rezaul Haque fixed the date,\u00a0forwarding the matter to apex court full bench for hearing on that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ICT Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam took part in the haring at the apex\u00a0court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) on November 17 convicted and\u00a0sentenced ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister\u00a0Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death for crimes against humanity committed during\u00a0the July Mass Uprising, holding them guilty under the doctrine of superior\u00a0<br>command responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tribunal sentenced both Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to\u00a0imprisonment till natural death for three counts of charge number one.
