President Mohammed Shahabuddin today urged all to work together to build a prosperous Bangladesh, free from discrimination and all forms of oppression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President made the call in a message issued on the occasion of the great \u2018Victory Day\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said, \u201cDecember 16 marks our great \u2018Victory Day\u2019. This day stands as a symbol of our national pride and the culminating success of our struggle for independence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mohammed Shahabuddin said, \u201cIndependence is our greatest achievement, founded upon a long history of exploitation, deprivation, and struggle. On this very day in 1971, we attained our long-cherished freedom and sovereignty through a nine-month-long, bloody Liberation War.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On this day, he paid his deepest respect to the valiant martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the war, the wounded freedom fighters, the mothers and sisters who lost their dignity, the families of the martyrs, and all the courageous individuals who dedicated their efforts to the cause of independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the aim of the Liberation War was not confined merely to political independence; one of its fundamental objectives was to establish economic emancipation and social justice. \u201cYet even after five decades, our people have not achieved complete political and socio-economic freedom. In this context, the student-led mass uprising of 2024 has rekindled hope for building a just Bangladesh, free from discrimination and corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said, \u201cTo ensure that the true benefits of independence reach every citizen, we must further strengthen and institutionalize our democracy. We must cultivate a culture of tolerance, mutual respect, and unity at every level of personal, social, and national life. Inspired by the spirit of the great Liberation War, let us commit ourselves to working together to build a prosperous Bangladesh, free from discrimination and all forms of oppression. This should be our pledge on this glorious \u2018Victory Day\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
