Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr\u00a0Asif Nazrul today said the ordinance for establishing a Supreme Court (SC)\u00a0Secretariat will be placed before the Advisory Council within the next few\u00a0
weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"The establishment of a SC Secretariat was one of the major recommendations\u00a0of the Judiciary Reform Commission, and also part of the Chief Justice's\u00a0reform vision. We have progressed a lot in this regard, though some\u00a0differences of opinion remain. We need further discussion, but I believe we\u00a0will be able to establish a separate secretariat within the tenure of this\u00a0interim government,\" he told reporters at the secretariat this afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Asif Nazrul said that during previous governments, it was often seen that\u00a0ruling party members used to intimidate members of other political parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"Now, people can freely criticise members of the Advisory Council from\u00a0different political parties and quarters. This is a healthy sign of\u00a0democratic transition. But I would also say to political parties - you must\u00a0have the tolerance to hear similar criticism directed at you,\" he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Replying to a question on whether all political parties will sign the July\u00a0Charter, the adviser said he believes they will. \"Every political party has\u00a0participated in the discussion process sincerely. I believe they will sign\u00a0the charter as a continuation of that sincerity. The content is not the issue\u00a0- the main debate is over its implementation process, which is not part of\u00a0the signing,\" he continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding the election, Dr Nazrul reaffirmed, \"We are firmly committed to\u00a0holding the national election in the first half of February. There is no\u00a0second thought or debate about it within our government.\"<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
