Robi Axiata PLC. has become the first operator in Bangladesh to officially launch commercial 5G services, marking a new milestone in the country\u2019s telecommunications sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The formal launch took place today at Robi\u2019s corporate office in Dhaka. 5G service has already been activated in different parts of the country. Dhaka\u2019s Fakirapul (Paltan), Some parts of Dhaka University, Magbazar Chowrasta, Khulshi in Chattogram, Sagor Dighir Par in Sylhet is already under Robi 5G.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Customers having 5G-supported devices in these areas will be able to directly experience the advanced network. The service will gradually be expanded to additional locations in the coming phases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The launch of 5G marks the beginning of a new chapter in Bangladesh\u2019s digital transformation. With its high-speed bandwidth, ultra-low latency, and massive device connectivity, 5G will unlock opportunities across emerging fields such as smart cities, telemedicine, augmented and virtual reality, and cloud gaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Robi is working with leading global technology partners, Ericsson and Huawei, to build a 5G-ready ecosystem of networks, devices, and solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the event, Shish Haider Chowdhury, ndc, Secretary ICT Division, said, \u201cLaunching 5G technology is an important milestone in Bangladesh\u2019s journey forward. It is not just about faster connectivity, but about opening new opportunities for economic growth, employment, education, healthcare, and the development of smart cities. This technology will prepare our people to actively participate in the digital world of the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BTRC Chairman Major General (retd.) Md Emdad ul Bari said, \u201cWith the launch of 5G, the country\u2019s telecom sector has entered a new horizon. We expect operators to use this technology responsibly to deliver maximum benefit to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
M. Riyaaz Rasheed, Acting CEO of Robi Axiata PLC. said: \u201cThanks to the government\u2019s vision and policy support, we have been able to bring 5G to life in record time. This rollout will play an important role in taking Bangladesh\u2019s digital economy to the next stage.
