{"id":28582,"date":"2025-05-15T14:01:57","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T14:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebangladeshtoday.com\/?p=28582"},"modified":"2025-05-15T14:01:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T14:01:59","slug":"record-725-foreign-commercial-ships-docked-at-mongla-port","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebangladeshtoday.com\/?p=28582","title":{"rendered":"Record 725 foreign commercial ships docked at Mongla Port"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TBT DESK: <\/strong>Mongla Port, the second largest sea port in the country, witnessed the anchoring of record 725 overseas commercial ships in the last 10 and a half months boosting its revenue earnings.<br>From July 1, 2024, to May 13, 2025, the port handled over 93.27 lakh tonnes of cargo and imported 10,374 reconditioned cars, confirmed Md Makruzzaman, deputy secretary of the Mongla Port Authority (MPA).<br>Currently, two ships are now anchored in the two jetties of the Port for unloading goods containers.<br>An Indonesian flag bearer ship over 7.25 miter draft M V SELATAN DAMAI was docked for unloading 324 TUES container at jetty no-5 while at the jetty no-6, a Russian flag bearer ship over 7.4 meter draft M V FESCO OLGA was docked for unloading 2,195 tonnes of machineries, said Md Makruzzaman.<br>Over one lakh tonnes of goods were transported from July 2024 to May 13, 2025, he said, adding that the MPA witnessed record ship anchoring as several measures have been taken to draw ship arrival at Mongla Port.<br>Rear Admiral Shaheen Rahman, chairman of MPA, highlighted that the port plays a vital role in meeting national demands by facilitating the import of essential items such as food grains, cement raw materials, clinker, fertilizers, automobiles, machinery, rice, wheat, coal, oil, stone, corn, oilseeds, and LPG.<br>Additionally, Mongla Port supports exports of various Bangladeshi goods including white fish, shrimp, jute and jute products, frozen food, crabs, clay tiles, silk fabrics and general cargo.<br>Mongla Port is a key driver of economic development in the southwestern region of Bangladesh, he said, adding that it created hundreds of thousands of jobs for the people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TBT DESK: Mongla Port, the second largest sea port in the country, witnessed the anchoring of record 725 overseas commercial ships in the last 10 and a half months boosting its revenue earnings.From July 1, 2024, to May 13, 2025, the port handled over 93.27 lakh tonnes of cargo and imported 10,374 reconditioned cars, confirmed [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":28583,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1,110,93],"tags":[54],"class_list":["post-28582","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-bangladesh","category-economy-business","category-nationwide","tag-54"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
