{"id":26092,"date":"2024-11-28T11:49:32","date_gmt":"2024-11-28T11:49:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebangladeshtoday.com\/?p=26092"},"modified":"2024-11-28T11:49:33","modified_gmt":"2024-11-28T11:49:33","slug":"two-ex-rab-officers-asked-to-appear-before-ict-on-dec-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebangladeshtoday.com\/?p=26092","title":{"rendered":"Two ex-RAB officers asked to appear before ICT on Dec 2"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The International Crimes Tribunal ICT) has asked\u00a0two former Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) officers before the tribunal on\u00a0December 2 next in a case filed over enforced disappearance during the Awami\u00a0<br>League (AL) regime.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>A judicial panel led by Chairman of the ICT Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the\u00a0order today upon a prosecution appeal of issuance production warrants against\u00a0them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rangamati Training Center and former\u00a0RAB-2 officer Mohiuddin Farooqui and Additional Superintendent of Police of\u00a0Barisal Range Alep Uddin were asked to appear before the tribunal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmood informed BSS about the order, saying, \"We\u00a0applied for their production warrant to the tribunal and it ordered them to\u00a0appear on December 2 next.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The interim government has earlier decided to try the charges of genocide and\u00a0crimes against humanity in the ICT in July-August during the anti-discrimination student movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the move, new prosecution teams and investigation agencies have\u00a0been formed. The ICT law has also been amended for the trial.
