{"id":26047,"date":"2024-11-26T14:09:47","date_gmt":"2024-11-26T14:09:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebangladeshtoday.com\/?p=26047"},"modified":"2024-11-26T14:09:48","modified_gmt":"2024-11-26T14:09:48","slug":"status-quo-imposed-on-hc-order-stopping-plying-of-battery-run-rickshaws","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebangladeshtoday.com\/?p=26047","title":{"rendered":"Status quo imposed on HC order stopping plying of battery-run rickshaws"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court today imposed status quo for one month on a High Court (HC) order that asked the authorities concerned to stop plying of battery-run rickshaws on the streets of Dhaka city within three days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Status-quo for one month and direction,\" said the order passed by Appellate Division Judge-in-Chamber Justice Md Rezaul Haque. The court also asked the concerned High Court bench to dispose of the rule issued in this regard within a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The apex court passed the order after holding a hearing on a government petition, pleading to stay the High Court order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A High Court division bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi on November 19 had passed the order after holding hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court ordered Home Secretary, LGRD Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner and authorities of the two city corporations to execute the order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court also issued a rule, asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why it shall not declare illegal their inaction in stopping the plying of battery-run rickshaws, illegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The writ was filed on behalf of an alliance of paddle-run rickshaw owners and was moved by Barrister HM Sanjid Siddiqui and Barrister Tahsina Tasnim Mridu before the court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court today imposed status quo for one month on a High Court (HC) order that asked the authorities concerned to stop plying of battery-run rickshaws on the streets of Dhaka city within three days. \"Status-quo for one month and direction,\" said the order passed by Appellate Division Judge-in-Chamber Justice [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":25041,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1,93],"tags":[54,48],"class_list":["post-26047","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-bangladesh","category-nationwide","tag-54","tag-48"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.3 -
