The film Chirkut, starring Shyamol Mawla and Azijun Mim, is currently running at several cinemas across the country. Among the film’s notable songs is Rongila Ashman, performed by emerging singers Mehedi Sarkar and Rakiba Oishi.
Since its release, the song has attracted considerable attention from listeners and generated discussion on social media, bringing Mehedi Sarkar into the spotlight with his playback debut.
Directed by Muntasir Akib, Chirkut features the song written by Kinkor Ahsan, with Mehedi Sarkar himself handling its composition and musical direction. The chorus was performed by Nahia Koli, Elin Ulka, Habibur Rahman, Riaz Uddin Shahed and Turjo Nandi.
Kaushik Ahmed Antor was responsible for music programming, while JH Munna handled sound design. Jewel Chandra Saha played the flute, and Mehedi Sarkar performed the dotara.
Speaking about the experience, Mehedi said, “Ever since childhood, I have dreamed of becoming a singer, and I am continuing to pursue that dream. My family has always stood by me throughout this journey. Singing for a film for the first time has brought me immense joy. If my mother were still alive, she would probably have been very happy today.”
He added that his musical journey had not been easy and expressed gratitude to the mentors who had supported and encouraged him along the way.
“I am deeply grateful to the music teachers who have inspired me and shown me affection. In particular, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my first music mentor, Konok Roy, Ustad Ali FM Rezwan, Tamal Kanti Lahiri, and the teachers of the Department of Music at Jagannath University. I want to keep moving forward with everyone’s love and prayers,” he said.
Mehedi Sarkar completed his undergraduate degree in the Department of Music at Jagannath University and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in music. He is also an enlisted singer with Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television, where he regularly performs. Alongside these engagements, he remains busy working on music at his own studio.
