Ratan has loved Shiuli since childhood. As the years passed, both of them grew up, and their lives took different turns. Shiuli earns a living by selling shiuli flowers, while Ratan sells toys to children on the streets of the city. Despite their struggles, Ratan has always remained by Shiuli’s side, carrying a deep love for her. However, an illness she suffered in childhood changed Shiuli’s life forever.
The illness resulted in Shiuli losing one of her legs. Since then, she has continued her struggle through life relying on one leg. Because of her physical disability, Shiuli also develops a sense of insecurity about her relationship with Ratan. She feels that because of their physical differences, they can never truly be “equal.”
Meanwhile, Shiuli’s mother begins looking for a suitable groom for her daughter. A man agrees to marry Shiuli despite knowing everything about her condition, and the wedding date is eventually fixed.
As circumstances gradually push Shiuli away from Ratan, he makes a desperate attempt to win her back. In a bid to become “equal” to Shiuli, Ratan makes an unusual decision.
He begins contemplating losing one of his own legs so that he can stand on equal footing with the woman he loves. His desire for such a sacrifice creates an emotional conflict at the heart of the story. This is the premise of the drama ‘Soman Soman’.
The story explores the complex interplay of love, sacrifice and human emotions, with Shyamol Mawla and Nisha Chowdhury portraying Ratan and Shiuli, respectively. The drama is directed by Rawnak Ripon.
Written by Saiful Alam Shamim and Raunak Ripon, the drama was initially aired on private television channel NTV. It has recently been released on YouTube as well. Although it has not garnered a large number of views, ‘Soman Soman’ is receiving positive responses from viewers.
One netizen commented after watching the drama, “I really liked the drama. However, it deserved more views.” Another wrote, “Nisha Chowdhury’s performance was very impressive.” Another viewer commented, “A very beautiful production.”
Besides Shamol Mawla and Nisha Chowdhury, the drama also features Rezwan Parvez, Ayman Shimla, Shilpi Sarker, Saiful Alam Shamim, child artiste Kotha, Kishan and others.
