KHAGRACHHARI,  – A woman and her son were killed and two others injured when lightning struck them at Karim Masterpara village under Matiranga upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased were identified as Ayesa Khatun, 55, and her son Abdul Momin, 22, residents of the same area.

Police and local sources said the lightning followed by a rainstorm hit them at about 5.30 am when they were inside their house. Both of them died on the spot.

Aleya, 30, and Arafat, 8, daughter and another son of the Ayesa were injured after they were struck by the lightning.

They were admitted to Matiranga upazila health complex. Officer-in-charge of Matiranga Police Station Shamsuddin Bhuiyan confirmed the incident
