DHAKA,   – The Election Commission (EC) today announced the schedule of fifth phase of fifth upazila election, fixing the voting date on June 18.

EC Secretariat secretary Helaluddin Ahmad announced the polls schedule at Nirbachan Bhaban here.

Helaluddin said the last date of nomination paper submission for fifth phase upazila election is May 21, while the last date of nomination paper withdrawal is May 30.

He said the nomination papers will be scrutinised on May 23.

The EC secretary said Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in majority of the upazilas in the election.

“This is not the last phase of fifth upazila election. Another phase of the upazila election will be held in October next,” he said.

Fifth phase of the upazila polls will be held in Nakla of Sherpur, Naldanga of Natore, Kamarkhanda of Sirajganj, Sundarganj of Gaibandha, Rangabali of Patuakhali, Taltali of Barguna, Gazipur Sadar, Bandar of Narayanganj, Madaripur Sadar, Kalukhali of Rajbari, Sayestaganj of Habiganj, Bancharampur and Bijoynagar of Brahmanbaria, Cumilla Adarsha Sadar and South Sadar and Noakhali Sadar upazila.
