MoU between DU and BIMRAD signed

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Dhaka (DU) and Bangladesh Institute of Maritime Research and Development (BIMRAD) was signed today May 5, 2019 at the VC’s lounge of DU to promote education, research and training on oceanography as well as protect environment and marine resources in the country.  Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin and Director General of BIMRAD Commodore Kazi Emdadul Haq BN (retd.)  singed the MoU on behalf of their respective institution.

Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof. Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science Prof. Dr. Sadeka Halim, Dean of the Faculty of Earth & Environmental Sciences Prof. Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal, Chairman of the Department of Oceanography Md. Jobaer Alam, Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed of the Department of International Relations, Acting Registrar Md. Enamuzzaman and some other higher officials from BIMRAD were present on this occasion.

According to the MoU, DU and BIMRAD will exchange information and materials to strengthen maritime research in the country. They will also conduct joint research programs and jointly organize seminar, symposium, conference, workshop and training programs on oceanography. Besides, they will work together to promote maritime sector in Bangladesh and formulate strategy in this regard.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the BIMRAD authorities for signing the MoU and hoped that the nation would be highly benefited by this initiative.
