25 lakh people to be shifted to shelter centers within evening

DHAKA,  – The government has decided to shiftabout 25 lakh people to over four thousand shelter centers in the coastal belt within this evening for saving their lives from the onslaught of severe cyclonic storm ‘Fani’.

Senior Secretary of the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry M Shah Kamal today disclosed this at a media briefing on the latest status of ‘Fani’ and preparations in this regard at the secretariat in the city, said a press release.

At the briefing, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr M Enamur Rahman, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Disaster Management AB Tajul Islam, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Nojibur Rahman, Information Secretary Abdul Malek and Health Division Secretary M Asadul Islam were present.

Shah Kamal said over 4.04 lakh costal people have already taken refuse to shelter centers.

The cyclone lashed Odisha in India this morning blowing over the speed of 200 km per hour.
