DHAKA  – To the delight of the audience more than 100 visually impaired people captivated them by reciting poems written by country’s 71 renowned poets depicting different turns of PM Sheikh Hasina.

The occasion turned into an enthralling event as the visually impaired people had animated discussions with the poets and writers as well.

The poems were recited from a book ‘Peace and Harmony’, which contains seventy-one poems written originally in Bangla and their translations in English. The poets are of different ages, educational backgrounds, and occupations.

Dedicated to PM Shekh Hasina, the book contains seventy-one poems of prominent and promising poets of Bangladesh, as its other objective is to remember the year 1971, which is the most important period in the history of
Bangladesh.

Blind Education and Rehabilitation Development Organisation (BERDO) organized the programme at its auditorium in city’s Mirpur area. The programme was presided over by Executive Director of BERDO Saidul Haque.

Chairman of Muktijuddha Academy Trust Dr Abul Azad, Poet Aslam Sani, translator poet Anis Mohammad, freedom fighter Shahida Begum and Akhlima Jahan and TV personality Alisha Pradhan, among others, were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Azad congratulated BERDO for arranging such noble initiative involving the visually impaired people. The book ‘Peace and Harmony’ was translated into English by Anis Muhammad and edited by Jahangirnagar University’s English Department Professor Ahmed Reza.
