President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday urged police to serve people of the country with honesty and sincerity being imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War to achieve people’s trust.

“Any person who comes to you to take service should not be harassed rather you should ensure that people get necessary services and suggestions. You will have to keep up efforts to become service-oriented and people-friendly by acquiring people’s trust – that is the hope of the country’s people.”

He made the call at a programme marking the ‘Police Week -2019’ held at Bangabhaban at noon, reports UNB.

“One of the key elements of good governance for the development and progress of the country is proper enforcement of law. You must continue to play responsible role to maintain the country’s internal security and establish a safe society,” he said.

“Your main responsibilities are maintaining internal security, protecting people’s lives, establishing of rule of law and prevention of terrorism and crime upholding human rights and democratic values,” the President said.
