DHAKA – Health Minister Zahid Maleque today sounded a strong note of warning against adulteration of medicines saying strict vigil was enforced against dishonest drug traders.

“The government is carrying out drives in medicine factories and stores for the past few years,” a health ministry statement quoted him at the inauguration of an international pharmaceutical exposition.

He added: “This anti-adulteration campaign will be intensified in the coming days.” Maleque said the country’s booming pharmaceutical industry must not be exposed to any stigma because of some handful of dishonest traders.

The minister made the remarks while opening the 11th Asia Pharma Expo at Bashundara International Convention Centre. Over 650 representatives of pharmaceutical plant making collaborators from 50 countries are taking part
in the expo.

Presided over by the Pharmaceuticals Society Chairman Nazmul Hasan, prime minister’s adviser for private industry and investment Salman F Rahman, MP, and other officials spoke at the programme.
