DHAKA, Jan 31, 2019 (BSS) – Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today hoped that the overall support of World Bank to Bangladesh, including loan, would enhance in the coming days.

The finance minister said this when a delegation of the World Bank Dhaka office, led by its outgoing Country Director Qimiao Fan, met him at his ERD office here this afternoon.

Acting Country Director of World Bank Robert Saum was present.

Mentioning that Bangladesh is now having good time with the Washington-based lending agency, Mustafa Kamal also hoped that the overall support of the World Bank would increase in the coming years as the present World Bank team in Dhaka understands better the needs of the country.

He said after getting the initial recognition of a developing country status, Bangladesh has become a place of trust for the foreign entrepreneurs and investors due to the ongoing friendly investment situation and socioeconomic development in various fields alongside growing GDP growth.

“Bangladesh is now a country of bright and immense potential…our capacity has increased a lot and that’s why all the lenders, including World Bank, want to extend credit to Bangladesh,” Kamal added.

Acting Country Director of World Bank Robert Saum praised highly the economic progress of Bangladesh, women’s employment and empowerment, hoping that the existing ties between the World Bank and Bangladesh would be further strengthened in the future.
